I am a fly fishing guide in a couple of different areas, depending on the time of year. It’s important for me to have secure storage for my fly fishing rods, since it’s my livelihood we’re talking about.
I was a fairly loyal customer to another well known brand who made a fly fishing rod carrier. Eventually the magnetic strips on the carrier started giving me trouble, and I just couldn’t be bothered with it. I was ready to try something new.
I had an idea in my head of what I was looking for, and it wasn’t far off from what I already had. I was just hoping it would be better quality. I did plenty of research and all signs pointed to it being the right decision. I also consulted with other guides that I knew and anyone who had this carrier thought it was fantastic.
I had enough information to go on to the Trouts Fly Fishing Website and order myself the Riversmith River Quiver Rod Carrier. I bought the 4 banger because I was hopping between different jobs throughout the course of a day. I was hopeful that this was just what I was looking for.
The installation was a breeze, which I did not expect. First good thing checked off. My rods fit nicely and the inside was lined which was awesome. It opened on the side which allowed for easy access.
When I drove with it the next day I was pleased to discover that it didn’t move or make noise. Not even when I got on some rough terrain. None of the problems that I had with the last one happened at all.
It made it so much easier to go from one job to the next, because you could pre-rig your fly fishing rods. Rigging and breaking them down is so time consuming, so I rarely had time in between. Now I didn’t have to rush.
It’s been a few months since I first purchased this product. I like to give it some time before I start recommending it to other people, just so I’m sure of myself. Customers tend to trust their guides, and I wanted to keep a good name for myself. Now, when I’m instructing people and they ask me about safe transport, I always talk about the carrier that I have.
It definitely makes going to and from my job a lot less stressful. I even had to buy a new vehicle and switch the carrier over to it. It was super easy and fit just as well. I’m pretty impressed with it.
I plan to do this part time even after I retire, so I will get a lot of use out of this fly fishing rod carrier. I never stood behind a brand like I do now, but I definitely feel good about it. It is most certainly worth every penny.
